Diveagar is a small village on the konkan coast. Known for its Ganesh temple & Seagulls. One can take the Mumbai - Goa highway if travelling by road or the better route is to take a ferry from Rajapuri ( Rajapuri is about 10 Kms from Murud.) The 30 min ferry ride is quite a fun journey as a lot of locals use it to travel back and forth.
Dapoli is a town in Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra. It is 215 km from the state capital of Mumbai. Dapoli is also called as Camp Dapoli as British set their camps in Dapoli. Many high rank British officers' Graves are in this Town. Dapoli also has an old abandoned church from British times. Dapoli is home to one of the biggest Agricultural Universities in India
Srivardhan is a lazy village about 25 Kms from Diveagar. The Diveagar-Srivardhan journey is amongst the most scenic routes on the Konkan stretch. The route has breathtaking views of the Arabian sea on one side and Mountains on the other. The beaches are much more cleaner than the Alibaug, Kashid or even Murud beaches
Harihareshwar is another small village on the Konkan route. The harihareshwar temple is an abode of Lord Shiva. The ancient temples in this area are the living specimen of Indian architectural style blended with Maratha style of constructions.
Kelshi is famous for at least two historic monuments, the Dargah of Yaqub Sarvari (who was the 11th spiritual leader of Shivaji) and Laxmi Mandir. Very few hotels are available here to stay but generally people can do home stays. Family's rent out dormitory type rooms for about 100-150 Rs. Per Person. This being well in the interiors of the Konkan Region, if you are lucky you may meet local traveling theater groups. Do visit the local Sand dunes as well if you are here.
Guhagar has possibly the best beach in the whole of konkan stretch. In the interiors of Konkan, away from any kind of noise, Guhagar is the amongst the best places to have a relaxed couple of days on the beach. The beach is pristine clean and virtually virgin. Home stays with local families is the best option to stay. You can also camp on the beach as there are several good spots. Also, a wood mill right next door sells firewood for a pittance.
Tarkarli is a village in Malvan taluka in Sindhudurg district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is tourist destination and a coral beach. This village is famous for its Ramnavmi Utsav, Ramnavmi is celebrated every year in Mahapurush Temple of the village. Tarkarli has the state's only scuba diving training centre.Tarkarli beach has a long coastline and clear waters. Located at the confluence of the Karli River and the Arabian Sea, This place has gained prominence because of its long and narrow stretch of beach with pristine waters and water sports. On a clear day, one can see the bed unto a depth of 20 ft. It presents a panoramic view with tall 'Shuru' trees in the background. The wide river, the sailboats and the tiny hamlets situated on the riverbank, add to the tourism of Tarkarli. Sighting dolphins is not a rare event here. This place fishes throughout the year, the sea during summer
Ganpatipule (Gaṇpatīpuḷē) is a small town located in the Ratnagiri district on the Konkan coast of Maharashtra in the sub-continent of India. The town of Chiplun is located to its north. According to local folklore, the Hindu god Ganapati, taking umbrage at a remark made by a native lady, moved to Pulé (a few km before the town) from his original abode of Gulé. Thus the region was named Ganpati-pulé. Ganapatipule is approximately 375 km. south of Mumbai, along the Konkan Coast. It is a very small town with about 100 houses, and has one of the most spectacular beaches along the Konkan Coast – an idyllic getaway that attracts peace-seekers, beach lovers, and pilgrims alike. The temple of Swayambhu (self-originated) Ganesh is much frequented by thousands every year. The God is considered to be the Paschim Dwarpalak (Western Sentinel God of India), and those who visit Ganapatipule make it a point to pay their respects to this deity. In addition to its clean beach and clear waters, Ganapatipule is rich in flora, including mangroves and coconut palms. Ganapatipule is governed by the Ganapatipule Grampanchayat.
Panhala is a city and a Hill station Municipal Council (3177 feet above sea level) 18 km northwest of Kolhapur, in Kolhapur districtin the Indian state of Maharashtra. Panhala is the smallest city in Maharashtra and being a Municipal Council the city is developing rapidly. The city sprawls in the Panhala fort commands a panoramic view of the valley below. The main historical attraction here is the Panhala fort. There are many places of interest, each with its share of haunting anecdotes.
Amboli is a hill station in south Maharashtra, India. At an altitude of 690 m it is the last hill station before the coastal highlands of Goa and a relatively unexplored one. Amboli lies in the Sahayadri Hills of Western India, one of the world's "Eco Hot-Spots" and it therefore abounds in a variety of fairly unusual flora and fauna. However, as in the other parts of the Sahaydri Hills, denudation of the forest cover and unregulated government assisted "development" (read "hotels, resorts & highways") are gradually ruining a once pristine environment. Historically, Amboli village came into being as one of the staging posts along the road from Vengurla port to the city of Belgaum, which was extensively used by the British to supply their garrisons in south and central India. In the hills of Amboli village lies the source of the Hiranyakeshi river, and an ancient Shiva temple (called Hiranyakeshwar) exists at the cave where the water emerges. The main attraction for tourists is the incredibly high rainfall (7 m average per year) and the numerous waterfalls and mist during the monsoons. Legend has it that there are 108 Shiva temples in and around Amboli of which only a dozen have been uncovered, one as recently as 2005. There aren't too many places to see or things to do but it is quiet, unpolluted and the local residents are good natured and helpful.and winter and back-waters during the monsoon since the sea water enters this area and also due to safety reasons
